Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Job Information

Reproducing the Issue

Example:

Pre-requisite: The standard hours for the Employee's Legal Entity is 40, and the standard hours value in the Job Information field is also 40.

  1. Edit Job Information data.
  2. Current FTE value is 1.
  3. Manually set the FTE field value 0.
  4. Click Save.
  5. The FTE value is saved as 1 instead of 0.

Resolution

FTE is calculated based on Standard Weekly Hours value. Its value is derived based on the value entered or calculated by the system based on business rule configuration and if Standard Weekly Hours value exists in Organizational Objects. Automatic calculation of FTE works only when the field FTE is not visible to the logged-in user performing UI transactions. Automatic calculation of FTE will not take place in the following scenarios:

  • No Standard Hours value is maintained in Job Information of the subject user
  • No Standard Hours value is maintained in Legal Entity or Location or Job Classification of the subject user
  • FTE field is editable for the logged-in user performing UI transactions
  • FTE field is Visible but Not Editable for the logged-in user performing UI transactions
  • There is an onSave rule to set FTE value other than 0/null

Note: 

  • If the FTE field is not visible to the signed-in user during UI transactions such as Quick Actions, the application resets the FTE value to blank to enable recalculation. This recalculation takes place only after the execution of onSave rules, as custom business rules may be configured to calculate the FTE value.
  • FTE is a critical field and cannot remain empty. The system includes built-in logic to calculate FTE when no business rules are configured, ensuring a valid value is always available. For customers using business rules, when the FTE field is not visible, the system first clears the FTE value and then waits for the onSave rules to execute to check whether any rule assigns a value to the FTE field. Only after this step does the system recalculate FTE using the default hard-coded logic.
