Cause

  • This is just a warning. It is not an error message. The message does not mean the workbook won't work. The general functions can work well.
  • The warning is always displayed when a workbook containing local connections is saved to the BI Platform.
    • There are two connection types:
      1. Datasource based on configured connection on BIP server in a workbook. It called OLAP connections.
Olap connections can be found in Central Management Console (CMC) of the Business Intelligence Platform.
      2. Datasource based on a connection which is NOT configured on BIP server in a workbook.  It is called local connections.
Local connections can be found in SAP GUI (SAP Logon) -> connections on your PC client.
  • You can ignore this warning. However, this may lead to possible issues.
For example: If you save a workbook contains local connections to BI Platform as WorkbookA, this warning pops up, and you ignore it.
    • If a user without the same local connections definded in SAP GUI on his PC opens WorkbookA,  errors as below will show when he refreshes the workbook
      • Requested system could not be found in 'logon.ini' (ID-103043)
      • Could not access system XX [10.XX.57.XXX] for data source XXXX (ID-103013)
    • If WorkbookA is scheduled on BI Platform, it will fail with error as below:
      • Error during scheduling; workbook does not contain OLAP connections

Resolution

  • This is just a warning. After check the potential issues listed in section Cause, you can ignore it.
  • If you have already saved a workbook with local connections on BI platform, you can use "replace system" option to change the local connection to an Olap connection. For more details, see KBA 2458013.
