2500196 - Error: "Must create object under it's defined root folder error" importing a BIAR file

Symptom

  • When importing an LCMBIAR file containing reports - the following errors are encountered for some reports which have a type Scheduled Sub-Instance, indicating that it is an instance of a parent report (eg. Web Intelligence):

    Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed., Promotion Status=Failure : Object number <ID> cannot be created under the given folder (number <ID>) because it must be under folder number 23 either directly or indirectly.  The server supplied the following details: Must create object under it's defined root folder.

  • The following error is also encountered against the parent report (Type: Regular Instance):
    Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed., Promotion Status=Failure : The object you are trying to promote may be available in the Recycle Bin. Delete the object from the Recycle Bin and try again.
