Resolution
The banner which is available is due to configuration set in your stage instance. Please follow below instruction to remove it from your users browse catalog page.
- Navigate to System Admin > Configuration > System Configuration > Select "CATALOG"
- Search for "browseCatalogBannerContents[Featured]=" and set this value to false
