2505162 - Error 905: Unable to allocate a DBTABLE descriptor to open database - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When trying to add more databases or during recovery
  • We may get the following errors:

Error: 905, Severity: 17, State: 1
Unable to allocate a DBTABLE descriptor to open database 'XXXXXXXXX'. Close or drop another database before opening this one, or ask your System Administrator to raise the configuration parameter 'number of open databases'.
Error: 3419, Severity: 17, State: 1
Unable to proceed with the recovery of dbid <35> because of previous errors.
Continuing recovery with the next database.
Error: 905, Severity: 17, State: 1
Unable to allocate a DBTABLE descriptor to open database 'XXXXXXX'. Close or drop another database before opening this one, or ask your System Administrator to raise the configuration parameter 'number of open databases'.
Error: 3419, Severity: 17, State: 1
Unable to proceed with the recovery of dbid <36> because of previous errors.
Continuing recovery with the next database.

  • The database recovery will also fail sometimes.
