Symptom

"hostname '<hostname>' unknown" error while trying to open the embedded SAP GUI from the BW Modeling Tool in the SAP HANA Studio.
('<hostname>' is a short name of the Application Server not the full qualified name.)

Log contains the following entries:

at com.sap.adt.sapgui.embedding.AdtEmbeddedGuiFactory.<init>(AdtEmbeddedGuiFactory.java:91)
at com.sap.adt.sapgui.embedding.AdtEmbeddedGuiFactory.getInstance(AdtEmbeddedGuiFactory.java:32)
