2506062 - How to Add Translations for Generic Objects

How do you add translations for Generic Objects?

• SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central -  Metadata Framework

There are 2 ways to add translation for generic object. We can do it manually via UI or through Import (Mass update).

 Updating Translation Manually via UI:

1. Go to Manage data -> Go the Object that you want to add translation to (In this case I would like to additional translation to Department)

2. You can go to the first record and click on Take Action -> Make Correction or you can Insert New Record (in this case we will just make correction on the existing record)

3.  Click on the View Translation Icon and add additional Translations.

4. After adding the translations click on Done and Save the Transaction.

Adding Translation via Import (Mass Update):

1. Go to Home Page -> Import and Export Data
2. Select Export Data -> Choose the Generic object you want to Export (In this case Department) (In this case I did not select the entire object or data but only the data for Asset Management AU (50110016)

3. Go to Admin Center -> Monitor Jobs and Export the file for Department
4. Once you are done downloading the file modify the file and add translation to either to the name of the department or to the description.

Note: Please edit the start date of the file you are importing so that it will not conflict to the start date of the original data

5. Go again to Admin Center -> Import and Export data and Import data you edited.

Please consider the following before doing this process:

1. Take a back-up copy of your generic object data via Import and Export Data and Export the data of the generic object you want to edit
2. Do the above steps on small batches or small population
