2509655 - Email Notifications sent manually are not received by end users

Symptom

When the LMS admin tries to send a user mail notification manually via User > Actions > Send Notification, those notifications (also known as ad hoc notifications) are never received by end users.

However email notifications triggered by APM can be received with no issue.

Environment

SuccessFactors Learning Management All versions;

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to LMS admin page > search for one user > go to user record page from the "Actions" area > click Send Notification >
  2. Build the Email by Selecting Template, Specifying Email Address (a "From" email address is required), or you can also Customize Contents as needed >
  3. Click "Send Notification" button.

Result: End user never received that email notification.

Cause

Please check the "From" email address when you Specify Email Address in Step2, check if you are defining a email id with your company domain.

Note that in this case, even though sender of message is showing as defined "From" email address, this email is actually triggered from LMS SMTP server.

There's a high possibility the mail is considered as a spoof mail and blocked by your IT department according to their policy, as it's detected that the actual email source is from a different domain.

Resolution

Define a dummy email address which will not be identified as spoof mail according to IT policy in your company.

If you want to have users' replies to the message, define a specific address in "reply-to" box. If you do not provide a reply-to address, then replies go to the address in "From".
