2513491 - Job Information to Position Synchronisation, for a Position which has a Transition Period.

Symptom

When updating some job info field for one of the incumbents of a Position which has a Transition Period.
The Job Information to Position sync is not occurring and the update fields on Job info are not syncing across to the Position.
The incumbent is instead getting assigned dot a new position.

Environment

Employee Central - Position Management

Reproducing the Issue

 1. Navigate to "Change Job and Compensation Information" for an incumbent of a Position which has a transition period, with multiple incumbents.
 2. Change some of the fields which you have defined within your Job Information to Position Sync rule.
 3. Save changes with an Event Reason, which has "Position Reclassification" maintained in the "Follow-Up Activity in Position".
 4. Changes are not synced to the Position.
 5. Incumbent is moved to a new Position.

Cause

This is expected behaviour.
If the position has more than one incumbent, as in the case of transition period. The system does not change the position. By default, the system first searches for an existing position with status To Be Hired below the higher-level position of the position to which the employee is assigned. If it doesn’t find a position, it creates a new position below this higher-level position and assigns the employee to this new position.

Resolution

If you would like for the changes to occur to the original position and for the incumbent to not be assigned a new position.
We suggest inserting a new Job Information Record after the Transition Period, with a Position Reclassification Event Reason.
This will then sync the changes successfully across to the original position.
