2514494 - Unable to start replication server with error " Operating System returned: Unknown system error '0' " - SRS

Symptom

  • The error message raised in errorlog file of SAP Replication Server (SRS) when starting:

Command failed: /sybase/test/REP-15_5/ASA12/bin/dbping -q -c "eng=test_primary_RSSD;Language=us_english;CommLinks=tcpip(DOBROAD=NONE;HOST=localhost;PORT=4906)" 2> /dev/null. Operating System returned: Unknown system error '0'
Starting embedded RSSD: /sybase/test/REP-15_5/ASA12/bin/dbspawn -f -q /sybase/test/REP-15_5/ASA12/bin/dbsrv12 -s none -ti 0 -x "tcpip(PORT=4906;DOBROAD=NO;BLISTENER=NO)" -o /sybase/test/test_primary/test_primary_RSSD/test_primary_RSSD.out /sybase/test/test_primary/test_primary_RSSD/db/test_primary_RSSD.db
ERROR #132 GLOBAL RS(GLOBAL RS) - /filesys.c(232)

Initialization failed. Server is shutting down.

  • Check the error log file of ASA (SQL Anywhere)  which manage the ERSSD database. The following message show:

Unable to synchronize due to external event - server shutting down
Database server shutdown due to HUP signal
TCPIP listener on IP address (::):4906 is exiting
TCPIP listener on IP address 0.0.0.0:4906 is exiting

  • There is no boot information regarding to ASA is started when starting Replication Server.
