2514835 - S/4HC: Business Partner Numbers are not continuously assigned.

• Through the app "Manage Business Partner Master Data" it is observed that there are some numbering jumps in the creation of the business partners.
• It is possible to create a new Business Partner with a number smaller than that of the previous business partner.
• There are number range gaps with field LIFNR (Supplier number) or KUNNR (Customer Number).

• SAP S/4HANA Cloud 

1. Open App Manage Business Partner Master Data.
2. Create new Business Partner.
3. Enter the relevant details.
4. The Business Partner Number is not sequential.

This is the default setting and is configured for technical reasons; i.e. performance improvement.

With this setting, 10 numbers are loaded into the buffer. When a new business partner is created one of these numbers is selected. If there is a system refresh, these 10 numbers are cleared from the buffer and 10 new numbers are added. When another business partner is created, another entry is selected at random, from the new buffered number entries.

This can sometimes lead to gaps in the number range.
