Symptom

  • An UPDATE query raises Error 614, e.g.:

Error: 614, Severity: 21, State: 7
Adaptive Server accessed a row that has an illegal length of 42487 while in data base 'XXXXXXXX'. Page pointer = 0x0x7f8523f58000, pageno = 90825386, status = 0x151, ptnid = 1777931185, indexid = 0, level = 0, pnextrno = 27. The minimum row length is 38. The page size is 8192.

  • This is an allpages-locked table.
  • It uses page level compression, and it has a compressed index.
