2517623 - At least one semaphore for another system ID and/or client range exists error during SPAM/SAINT operation

Symptom

  • Attempting to import packages using SPAM or SAINT fails with error  Internal Error: 
    Execution of SET_LM_SEMAPHORE aborted with rc5
    or
    At least one semaphore for another system ID and/or client range exists SAP
     
  • During an upgrade using the Software Update Manager (SUM), one of the error messages above is reported in phase PREP_PRE_CHECK/SPAMCHK_INI
  • The system was created as a copy of another system using the System Copy procedure 
  • The system ID is different from the Source of the System Copy
