2518387 - Variable Pay – Why calculation result of ‘Percent of Tgt’ and ‘Final Payout’ turn out to be a negative value and unchangeable

Environment

SuccessFactors Variable Pay

Reproducing the Issue

Var Pay plan with ABR enabled and using ‘Ind Rating’ (id:totalIndividualRating) and ‘Ind Percent’ (id:performancePercent) as entry level. Enter a value for ‘Ind Percent’. ‘Percent of Tgt’ and ‘Final Payout’ will get calculated, results will be negative number/amount and can no longer be changed.

Cause

When a Var Pay plan is setup with ABR each assignment may have different ratings, using ‘Ind Rating’ (id:totalIndividualRating) and ‘Ind Percent’ (id:performancePercent) as the entry level will brought confusion to the system as to which assignment percent on the entry level it should take for the calculation - this will cause the symptom described above because ‘Ind Rating’ (id:totalIndividualRating) and ‘Ind Percent’ (id:performancePercent) are designed for Var Pay plan with Non-ABR.

Resolution

Please note that both ABR and Non-ABR supports multiple assignments. The difference between ABR and Non-ABR lies in the way we map it to PM rating.

  1. ABR may have different ratings for assignments based on configured mapping rule.
  2. Non-ABR will have only 1 rating for 1 employee no matter how many assignments that employee has.

To resolve the issue, you must re-evaluate your requirement whether you want to use ABR or Non-ABR.

  1. If your requirement is to have ABR – set “Is this Bonus Program based on Assignments?” to ‘Yes’ and configure your Individual Section and use ‘Rating’ (id:individualRating) and ‘Individual Percent’ (id:individualPercent) as the entry level.
  2. If your requirement is to have Non-ABR – set “Is this Bonus Program based on Assignments?” to ‘No’ and use ‘Ind Rating’ (id:totalIndividualRating) and ‘Ind Percent’ (id:performancePercent) as the entry level.

NOTE:

It is important to note that having Ind Percent/Individual Guidelines on the template which initially loads a blank value can cause relating calculations to initially show a negative value.

When saving the form the page refreshes to show a positive value.
