2522849 - How System Determines Custodian and Owner Party in Registered Product

Symptom

You want to know how system determines the Custodian and Owner party role in the Regsitered Product when creating automatically by system through outbound delivery.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Service Entitlements work center.
  2. Go to Registered Products view.
  3. Search and open certain registered product.
  4. Go to Involved Parties, you see there are 2 party roles added by system. In this case, Custodian is account ABC and Owner is account DEF. (ABC, DEF represent the ID of an account).

Cause

When system creating registered product out of outbound delivery, the ship-to party is used as Account and added in the General tab of the registered product. By default, the Account added in General tab is added as Custodian role in the Involved Parties tab. And the original account in sales order is added as owner.

Resolution

This is the designed system behavior.
