2523372 - Failed to connect to system error when using Live Data Connection to an SAP Universe in SAP Analytics Cloud

This KBA relates to the legacy version LUC 2.x only. It is heavily recommended to upgrade to LUC 3.x for Full Support and for a much simpler deployment process.

The following error occurs when you try to connect to a Live Data Connection to an SAP Universe:

• Failed to connect to system in SAP Analytics Cloud

Also in Google Chrome Developer Tools this error may occur:

• "{"Messages":[{"Type":2,"MessageClass":"javax.ws.rs.client.ClientException: javax.ws.rs.client.ClientException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: URI is not absolute\r\n\..."

• SAP Analytics Cloud
• SAP BOE LIVE DATA CONNECT 2.x

1. Connect to SAP Analytics Cloud.
2. Create a "Live Data Connection > SAP Universe" connection with Connection Type = "Direct".
3. From the Main Menu click "Create > Model".
4. Choose the "Live Data Connection > SAP Universe" connection with Connection Type = "Direct".
5. Notice the error.

The BocInaAgentConfigurationFile does not include full path to the boe.properties file.

Set BocInaAgentConfigurationFile to the full path to boe.properties and restart Tomcat for example:

-DBocInaAgentConfigurationFile=C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\tomcat\conf\boe.properties
