2524037 - Msg 3543 "One or more entries in the log segment free space counts ... was found to be negative" - SAP ASE

Symptom

Running SAP applications on SAP ASE releases:

  • lower than 160 SP02 PL04
  • lower than 157 SP138

The SID database resides on separate data and log devices.

Receive following Message 3543 in the ASE errorlog:

One or more entries in the data segment free space counts in database ID <dbid> was found to be negative and has been set to 0

On these releases, the error text references the data segment irrespective of the type of segment which is affected (data or log)
