2524929 - Key Figure Values Multiplied in Reports with Hierarchy

You are viewing a report that has a hierarchical structure and when filtering for specific values, you notice that the key figure values are multiplied - the value is shown for each node of the hierarchy, instead of just the lowest level (where the value comes from).

For example: You are viewing a report showing opportunities and territories. There is a hierarchy setting on the field Territory, and you have filtered for one specific opportunity. The key figure value for Expected Value for this opportunity is shown for the assigned territory, as well as for every node above this territory. As a result, the same expected value is shown multiple times.

1. Open the respective report from the assigned work center.
2. Add the required fields to the view (in our case Territory, Opportunity and the key figure Expected Value).
3. There is a hierarchy setting on the Territory: Go to Settings > Characteristics > column Display Hierarchy.

The Expected Value of the opportunity is shown for every single node in the territory hierarchy. As a sum, this results in the wrong value.

It would be wrong to show the Expected Value for the lowest level only because on collapsing the hierarchy, the value would disappear.

With an active hierarchy setting in the report, the key figure values always show the actual values from the respective documents, plus their sum on every subordinate hierarchy node. This is the correct behaviour.

If you have a hierarchy set and you want to use the filter or selection, it is more helpful to filter on the hierarchical field, rather than on another one. In our case, you can filter for a specific territory ID, and see what the expected value is for this node. Please note that the top level node will always be a summation of the subordinate nodes.

If you need to see the values for one / several specific document(s), we would recommend to remove the hierarchy setting. To do so:

1. Open and run the report.
2. Go to Settings > Characteristics.
3. In the Display Hierarchy column, select the option Do Not Show.
4. Click on OK.
