2525572 - SUM phase RUN_SGEN_GENER8 fails with error: A2EESUPG_SGEN 512 Another generation job is already scheduled active

Symptom

  • While performing an upgrade using the Software Update Manager (SUM) the upgrade stops at phase "MAIN_SHDIMP/SUBMOD_SHD2_RUN/SUBMOD_GEN_ABAP_LOAD/RUN_SGEN_GENER8"
  • The following error can be found in the log RSUPG_SGEN_GENER8_SHD.ELG : 
    A4 ESUPG_SGEN 170 Report "RSUPG_SGEN_GENER8" started
    A2EESUPG_SGEN 512 Another generation job is already scheduled active
    A2EESUPG_SGEN 172 Report "RSUPG_SGEN_GENER8" finished with errors
  • The error can also occur in other JOB_* or RUN_* type phases.
  • In SM37, there is an active RUN_SGEN_GENER8 job running.
