2525648 - Upper Limit for Postal Code Range in Territory Rules

Symptom

You set up a territory rule to derive territory for accounts by postal code.

Account territory cannot be derived for last postal code of range in territory rule.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Customers work center.
  2. Go to Accounts view.
  3. Open account ID XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the Account).
  4. Go to actions Derive Territory.

Result: You receive the error message "No territory could be derived for this account" and territory field is not populated.


 

Cause

Postal code for account ID XYZ is a mix of numbers and letters. The postal code number of account ID XYZ is the upper limit in your terroritory rule. Therefore, postal code for account ID XYZ does not fall into the postal code range of your territory rule.

Resolution

Change the postal code range in the territory rule to YYY plus one.

The postal code YYY plus letters now qualifies for the rule and the corresponding territory is returned.
