Resolution

When you upload a PowerPoint file (*.ppt or *.pptx) in the LMS, it is saved with the PPT extension. As a result, when users launch the content object, it will be downloaded to their machine, where they can view it in the PowerPoint viewer application.

This is standard behavior for web browsers and cannot be controlled by the LMS application. Some content formats, such as *.mp4, *.mp3, and *.jpeg, can be directly opened in the browser because the browser can render these formats within the window itself. Typically, browsers cannot directly play files like *.ppt, *.pptx, *.doc, or *.xls; these need to be opened in their respective applications, such as Microsoft Office.

If you want users to view PowerPoint content directly in the browser window, you will need to convert it to AICC or SCORM content. This can be done using specialized tools such as Articulate, SAP WPB, or Adobe Captivate.

These tools allow you to convert various types of files to AICC or SCORM formats. Once this content is created, you can import it into the LMS application, enabling users to access it directly within their browser window.
