2526426 - Windows restarts during installation of BI / IPS on step 'Installing SQL Anywhere'


  • During the installation of the product, Windows OS restarts during the step 'Installing SQL Anywhere'
  • When the installer is re-run - the same behaviour occurs
  • It is not possible to successfully complete the installation
  • SetupEngine logs of the install show the following:

    12:11:53.677 RunCommand: Get Hide:    1
    12:11:53.677 RunCommand: Get DisableWOW64Redirection: 0

    12:11:53.677 RunCommand: Get noWaiting: 0
    12:11:53.677 RunCommand: WOW64 redirection is enabled
    12:11:53.677 RunCommand: UseShellExecute:    false
    12:12:30.498 Action execution process terminated with non-zero exit code: 1073807364.

  • Running the msiexec command manually results in the same behaviour:
    msiexec /qn /fa {87A81088-571E-4E86-A037-66D9C5229342}

  • Running the msiexec command with tracing on (as follows):
    msiexec /qn /fa {87A81088-571E-4E86-A037-66D9C5229342} /L*V "<PATHTOLOGFILE>"

    Reveals below entries in the log:
    MSI (s) (04:E4) [15:08:39:651]: Note: 1: 2228 2:  3: Error 4: SELECT `Message` FROM `Error` WHERE `Error` = 1903
    Info 1903.Scheduling reboot operation: Deleting file E:\Config.Msi\2364bc.rbf. Must reboot to complete operation.
    MSI (s) (04:E4) [15:08:39:995]: Note: 1: 2228 2:  3: Error 4: SELECT `Message` FROM `Error` WHERE `Error` = 1703
    You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to SQL Anywhere 17 Deployment to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to manually restart later.
