2528078 - Calculated Field at Custom Views aggregation is not selectable

Symptom

  • Calculated field is not considered as a key figure "aggregation" property under "Field Properties" tab is not selectable
  • When publishing a Custom View, system is automatically adding XXX as the name of my custom field. Therefore user is not able to edit this field anymore

Environment

SAP S/4HANA CLOUD 1708

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a custom view

  2. Pick one of the datasource XXXX as the primary datasource

  3. Pick some of the fields, and then add a calculated field

  4. Name the calculated field XYZ and put 1 as the value

  5. Go to Field properties

  6. Aggregation is blank

  7. Publish this view

  8. Log out, log back in and try to edit the custom view

  9. Not able to change the calculated field

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

  • Aggregations on calculated fields are currently not possible. User can build a query with the "Analytical Query Designer" on top of the view
  • A formula "put 1 as the value" is not valid and lead to the issue that cannot change the field. This will be addressed within one of the next releases. As a workaround, user can use a formula "0+1" instead of "1"

  • It is not possible to add an aggregation to a calculated field right now, as this is not fully supported in the analytics runtime
