2528692 - SAP ASE won't start : "Error while loading shared libraries"

Symptom

  • Starting ASE or running "dataserver -v" returns a message "Error while loading shared libraries" 
  • The library name is not unique, it can be reported for different libs and with different version suffix
    • libsybcsi_core210 is only one example:

./startserver -f RUN_SID
/sybase/SID/ASE-16_0/bin/dataserver: error while loading shared libraries:
libsybcsi_core210.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
