2528706 - GR/IR Clearing Run Error: 'Fixed asset XXX cannot be locked since locked by ABC'

In the Inventory Valuation work center, when you try to do a GR/IR Clearing run the system returns the following error message:

'Fixed asset XXX cannot be locked since locked by ABC.'

*XXX represents the fixed asset ID.

*ABC represents the user ID/name.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Inventory Valuation work center.
2. Go to the GR/IR Clearing view.
3. Show all GR/IR Clearing Runs.
4. Find the relevant clearing run ID.
5. Open it.
6. A new tab will be opened, on the top right corner of the screen, click View All.
7. Go to subtab Processed with Errors.

You will see the error message displayed on the screen:

'Fixed asset XXX cannot be locked since locked by ABC.'

There are two possible causes for this error:

1. The GR/IR clearing run tries to make postings to the fixed assets. However, the operation was not possible because a user was already working on the respective asset XXX in edit mode.
2. The GR/IR clearing run uses parallel instances. When one of the parallel sequences is using the Fixed Asset under Construction, and another tries to access it, the error of a locked Fixed Asset is thrown. This happens when multiple project tasks are assigned to the same Fixed Asset.

For the first scenario:

Restart the GR/IR clearing run when there are no users working on the relevant assets.

For the second scenario:

If you have done the first scenario but the error persists, check if the number of errors have reduced.  If it is reduced, keep running it until the number of errors reaches zero. Each time you run the GR/IR Clearing, some Project Tasks will be posted, hence, the number of errors will reduce each time.

Remark: notice that if you are executing the run in Test mode the number of errors won't decrease as the project tasks won't be posted. You should execute the run in Update mode.
