2530487 - Error 257 "Implicit conversion from datatype..." in SELECT query on multiple views with UNION ALL and LEFT JOINS - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • A SELECT statement on multiple views with UNION ALL and LEFT JOINs generates:

Error 257 Implicit conversion from datatype 'VARCHAR' to 'INT' is not allowed.  Use the CONVERT function to run this query.

  • The issue only happens with  LEFT JOINs  as with RIGHT JOIN no error has been seen.
