2532012 - SSL Security error while installing database instance on SQL Server

Symptom

  •  On sapinst_dev.log file you see the following error:

WARNING 2017-09-06 10:08:22.023 (SERVER\USER) (startInstallation) [bas/bas/749_REL/bc_749_REL/src/ins/SAPINST/impl/src/dbmodmss/iaxmbcom.cpp:111] id=dbmodmssql.odbcdll.connection CMssLogger::logMessage
Cannot connect to the database server. Errors returned: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBMSLPCN]SSL Security error
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBMSLPCN]ConnectionOpen (SECDoClientHandshake()).
Call your SAP Support.

  • Your SQL Server instance is a named instance, and you're able to connect to SQL Server by SQLCMD pointing to your named instance, using the following command:

sqlcmd -S <instance name> -E -Q "SELECT @@VERSION"
