2532218 - BINARY SEARCH towards TABLES parameter of form always returns "SUBRC 8" for valid record

Symptom

READ TABLE ... BINARY SEARCH is used towards an internal table (standard table), but SY-SUBRC is always set to 8 for valid record, although the corresponding columns are already sorted before the form.

The problem happens under following conditions:

  • The internal table is a formal TABLES STRUCTURE <struc> parameter of a form
  • The data type of the actual parameter differs from the data type of formal parameter.
