2533453 - How to do a Product Count for a Product That has Zero On-hand Stock

Symptom

You cannot do a Product Count for a Product that has zero On-Hand Stock.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Physical Inventory Work Center.
  2. Select Common Task and then 'New Product Count'.
  3. Enter the relevant Storage Location ID.
  4. Enter the relevant Product ID.
  5. Click the Go button.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. The system throws up the error message: Action not permitted; no product selected. 

Cause

Product Count works only if the Product has an On-Hand Quantity that is greater than zero.

Resolution

As a workaround, you can do an Inventory Adjustment for the product that has zero On-Hand Stock.

  1. Go to the Physical Inventory Work Center.
  2. Select Common Task and then 'New Inventory Adjustment'.
  3. Enter the relevant Storage Location ID.
  4. Enter the relevant Product ID.
  5. Click the Go button.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Click Add Row button.
  8. In step 6, you will not encounter the error message as before and you are now able to do an Inventory Adjustment.
