Symptom
Customer contacts can have attributes assigned to them. This can be done through the Marketing Attributes facet in the Contacts view. However once the attributes are added by an authorised user it is undesirable to have the attributes editable by just anyone. For this the facet can be set to read only and the ability to add new attributes removed based on business role.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Customers work centre.
- Select the Contacts view.
- Select a contact from the list.
- Go to the Marketing Attributes facet.
- The Marketing attributes are editable and new attributes can be added.
Resolution
In order to set the Marketing attributes to read only:
- Go to Administrator work centre.
- Select Business Roles.
- Select the Business Role that you want restricted.
- Edit the Business Role and go to the Fields & Actions tab.
- At the bottom of the page is Business Action Restrictions.
- Add a Row to this section and under name column put BUSINESS_ATTRIBUTE_ASGNM_READ.
- Hit enter and set Access Restriction column to Disabled.
- Save and log out and back in with the user you have restricted.
- When editing the Marketing Attributes facet the attributes are read only.
In order to disable the adding of new attributes by users:
- Follow the steps from 1 - 5 from the previous list of steps.
- Add a Row to this section and under the name column put BUSINESS_ATTRIBUTE_ASGNM_ADD.
- Hit enter and set Access Restriction column to Disabled.
- Save and log out and then back in with the user you have restricted.
- When editing the Marketing Attributes facet the option to add a new attribute is removed.
