2536887 - OpenSQLException encountered "syntax error: expected delimiter" during upgrade of Java stack

Symptom

  • The error is uncountered during an upgrade of the Java stack using software update manager (SUM) during the phase: CREATE-SHADOW-ALIASES
  • The following error message is seen in DMT.DROP_ALIAS.log and DMT.DROP_ALIAS.ERR:
Jul 10, 2017 4:55:14 PM [Error ]: Could not connect.
Jul 10, 2017 4:55:14 PM [Error ]: com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Syntax error in connection info: expected delimiter '&', got '='.
Jul 10, 2017 4:55:14 PM [Error ]: Could not establish open SQL connection. Exception com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException: Syntax error in connection info: expected delimiter '&', got '='..
