Symptom

  • ASE reported Error 4216 for a temporary database: 

Error: 4216, Severity: 21, State: 2
UPDATE failed in database tempdb: unexpected end of log encountered on page 450567 while scanning for page 462091.

  • "DBCC CHECKTABLE(syslogs)" and "DBCC TABLEALLOC(syslogs)" did not report any error in this temp database.
  • This can happen on any tempdb database
