Symptom
The account name used in opportunity XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the Opportunity) is different to the account name displayed in the Opportunity Pipeline report.
Environment
SAP Business byDesign
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Got to the New Business work center.
- Go to the Opportunities View.
- Show: All Opportunities and Select Opportunity XYZ.
- Account name is shown as ABC (ABC represents the name of the account).
Then:
- Got to the New Business work center.
- Go to the Reports- List View.
- Show: All and in the Search field enter Opportunity Pipeline.
- Open and run the Opportunity Pipeline report.
- Under Not currently shown, add Opportunity and Account to the rows.
- Search for Opportunity XYZ.
The account name shown for the Opportunity XYZ is DEF.
Cause
At the time when opportunity XYZ was created, the name of the used account was ABC. After the creation of the opportunity, the account name was updated to DEF in the account master data .
The difference occurs as the opportunity pipeline report derives account names from the current master data whereas the actual opportunity, and the underlying business object, is based on the transactional data used at the time of the opportunity creation.
Resolution
This is correct, expected system behaviour.
The Opportunity Pipeline report will always display account names according to the existing master data rather than deriving them from the transactional data used at point of opportunity creation.
