2539225 - Characteristic Dimensions Missing in Custom Report

Symptom

You notice that in some custom reports, the characteristics are not sorted by dimension both in the report wizard as well as in Add Fields.

Reproducing the Issue

Scenario 1:

  1. Go to the work center Business Analytics, view Design Reports.
  2. Search for your custom report.
  3. Click on Edit With > Report Wizard.
  4. Go to step 3.
  5. Here, all characteristics are listed under one single dimension without name.

Scenario 2:

  1. Open the custom report.
  2. Click on Add Fields.
  3. Here, all characteristics are listed under one single dimension without name.

Cause

This is the correct behaviour for all reports based on custom data sources.

Resolution

If the data source is custom, the grouping of characteristics by dimension cannot be supported. They are listed alphabetically by the technical ID of the characteristic. This ID can be viewed in the report wizard for example (step 3), by clicking on Personalize > This Screen, and adding the Characteristic ID.
