2539511 - Context menu language not working for east Asia (JP, KO, zh-CN, zh-TW) and Russian languages in Visual Studio 2010+

Symptom

In the following Languages when editing a report in Visual Studio 2010 -> 2017 the context menu words are wrong.

  1. JP
  2. KO
  3. zh-CN
  4. zh-TW
  5. ru

Crystal Reports for Visual Studio SP 21

Reproducing the Issue

Editing any Crystal Reports report in Visual Studio IDE for the East Asian and Russian Language shows unrecognizable characters in the context menu list.

Resolution

We found a usable workaround for this issue. The basic idea is: replacing SP21 localized resource file(jp, ko, ru, zh-cn, zh-tw) CRDesignerUI.dll with SP20

How to:

  1. Please backup Resources folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
  2. Extract attachment, copy extracted folders: 1028, 1041, 1042, 1049 and 2052 to C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\Resources
  3. In prompting dialog, select Replace the files in the destination to overwrite the files.
  4. Open Developer Command prompt for Visual Studio, run command “devenv /setup”
