2541282 - SySAM Sub-capacity PARTITION license 'invalid hostid' - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When configuring SySAM Sub-capacity PARTITION license
  • The license file is not accepted and ASE won't start or starts in grace mode
  • ASE errorlog shows messages including:

SySAM: Licensing capacity set to PARTITION licensing. All ASE instances running on hostname001 (HOSTID=PARTITION-ID=xxx xxx xxx xxx) will share licenses. License quantities are based on x logical processor(s), x core(s) in x chip(s).
SySAM: Failed to obtain license(s) for ASE_CORE feature from license file(s) or server(s).
SySAM: Invalid host. The hostid of this system does not match the hostid specified in the license file. Unserved licenses can only be used on the host for which the license was generated. If the license is intended for use on this machine then you need to check-in the license and regenerate it using the host id for this machine.
SySAM: The hostid of this system does not match the hostid
SySAM: specified in the license file.
