2541787 - How to add an Extension Field in Personalization Mode

Symptom

You have created a new Extension Field but the Business Users are unable to add it in Personalization mode to their layout as the field is missing from the Add Fields list.

Reproducing the Issue

As an examle we will use the Account screen.

  1. Open the Customers work center.
  2. Select the Accounts view and open any Account.
  3. Click Personalize.
  4. Hover your mouse over the section or list where you wish to add the Extension Field.
  5. Click the Add Field button (+ icon).

Cause

The Extension Field was created by a Key User but was not added to the UI on the Master Layout yet. Without adding an extension field to the UI it will not become available in Personalization Mode for the Business Users.

Resolution

How to make the Extension Field available to End users in Personalization Mode? We will use our example from above.

  1. Open the Customers work center.
  2. Select the Accounts view and open any Account.
  3. Click on Adapt.
  4. Select Edit Master Layout.
  5. Add the Extension Field to the desired list or section.
  6. Hide the Extension Field by clicking the visible Hide icon (using X) - not via Property change.
  7. End Layout changes.
  8. The field is available in Personalization Mode as well.

As you see the Extension Field was added and then hidden on the Master Layout. This step will make Extension Fields available to End Users.
