2541881 - LMS: Can I create root level subject areas using Skillsoft connector?

Symptom

You want to create skillsoft items via Skillsoft Connector but you want the subject area to be root (have no parent subject area).

Environment

Successfactors Learning Management System (LMS)

Reproducing the Issue

  1.  Run the skillsoft connector.
  2. The subject area always becomes child of a specific subject area (usually SKILLSOFT).

Resolution

  • It is not possible.
  • Parent subject areas must be created only via References > Learning > Subject Areas.
  • As pre-requisite for Skillsoft Connector, you must create subject area that will hold all items that are being created via Skillsoft Connector. Once created, you will put in the Subject Area ID in the following line:

skillsoft.subjectarea.connector.parentSubjectArea=

For example, you created Subject Area SKILLSOFT.

The configuration of your Skillsoft Connector will be: skillsoft.subjectarea.connector.parentSubjectArea=SKILLSOFT

Note: If you leave the above configuration blank, skillsoft connector will fail.
