2542382 - MRP Run will not Consider the Resource Capacity Overload While Creating Production Proposals

Symptom

While running MRP for a given product and planning area, system does not consider the resource capacity resulting  in over scheduling of a resource during creating of production proposals.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go To Supply Planning Work Center.
  2. Go To Resource Load View.
  3. Show 'All Resource Loads By Selection' -> Find 'Resource ID ABC (ABC means the Resource ID)' -> Open.
  4. Under Resource Load Tab, Select Load Table.
  5. Check for 'Operation Start Date', 'Operation Start Time'.

Cause

System considers site working calendar and expects resource always available.
System doesn't check if the resource is already occupied by other demands on a particular day and this makes resource overloaded.

Resolution

To resolve the resource overload situation, after MRP run (proposals are not released), The user can distribute the work load by performing load levelling.

To achieve this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go To Supply Planning Work Center.
  2. Go To Resource Load View.
  3. Select the Resource -> Open the Resource Load.
  4. Here, select 'Run Load Levelling', then select Planning Horizon(from date and to date) to distribute the work load.

Now the resource load is distributed. To propagate these load levelling changes, user has to do Top Down/Bottom Up scheduling based on the need.

You may refer to help document Load Leveling and Resource Load for detailed explanation.
