Symptom

  • Upgrading ASE fails
  • ASE_Suite.log messages include :
Custom Action:    com.sybase.ia.common.InstallMergeModuleStatus
                          Status: FATAL ERROR
                          Additional Notes: FATAL ERROR - class com.sybase.ia.common.InstallMergeModuleStatus FatalInstallException:
                          QPTune: FAILED.  See log file C:\Sybase\log\qptune.log for detail.
  • The qptune.log the previous message refers to includes :
DEBUG>>> 10-10-17 15:20:54 : CheckInstalledComponentVersion.getComponentVersionText(): This is QPTune 3.0.0.0
DEBUG>>> 10-10-17 15:20:54 : CheckInstalledComponentVersion.getComponentVersionText(): Found QPTune 3.0.0.2
DEBUG>>> 10-10-17 15:20:54 : CheckInstalledComponentVersion.getComponentVersionText(): installed version is newer
ERROR>>> 10-10-17 15:20:54 : Error: Installer has detected newer QPTune 3.0 installed in C:\Sybase.
If you like to install older version, rerun installer with '-DINSTALL_OLDER_VERSION=true' argument.
