2549970 - SAP Solution Manager 7.20 Custom attributes - FAQs for advanced users

This KBA contains information for advanced users that create customer attributes in SAP Solution Manager 7.20.
Please make sure you have implemented the SAP notes 2552864 (relevant for SP03 to SP06) and 2599805 (relevant for SP05 and SP06) before you start working with customer attributes. For SPs higher than SP06, these two SAP notes are already contained in the standard.

Please be aware that there are two kinds of customer attributes in SAP Solution Manager 7.20:

"Normal" customer attributes, which we simply call "customer attributes" here. They are stored in tables of the solution documentation and they are created via transaction SMUD_MODEL_WIZARD. Transaction SMUD_MODEL_WIZARD can be accessed in SOLMAN_SETUP via the path "Process Management -> 5 Configure Solution Documentation -> Define custom attributes".
Information concerning transaction SMUD_MODEL_WIZARD can be found by pushing the "Info" button in the transaction.

Customer KW document attributes, which always belong to KW (Knowledge Warehouse) documents. They are created in transaction SMDCAM. This transaction can be accessed in SOLMAN_SETUP via the path "Process Management ->4 Customize Document handling -> Define Document Attributes".
Documentation for customer KW document attributes can be found in the corresponding SOLMAN_SETUP activity and in the online help of the application.

Please note that if you want to create additional attributes, we recommend to use "normal" customer attributes which are created in transaction SMUD_MODEL_WIZARD, unless you have the special requirement to store the information together with the KW documents in the KW.
