2550521 - Error While Migrating the Sales Notes for Materials

Symptom

The system throws below error while adding sales notes through the migration of materials

"Update not possible; specified data for MATERIAL-SALES with key INTERNAL_INDICATOR = `` AND LANGUAGE_CODE = `F` does not exist"

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Select Implementation Projects view or Overview.
  3. Search activity Migration of Materials.
  4. Choose migrate materials using the migration tool.
  5. Execute migration for the respective migration file with migration mode modify already existing records.
  6. Error "Update not possible; specified data for MATERIAL-SALES with key INTERNAL_INDICATOR = `` AND LANGUAGE_CODE = `F` does not exist" during the simulation step.

Cause

It is not possible to use migration mode modify already existing records to add sales notes for existing materials.

Resolution

In order to add the sales notes for the existing materials, use the migration approach with migration mode enhance already existing records or Mass Data Maintenance tool.
