2553872 - SAP HANA recovery using Backint fails and nameserver terminates during restore (no data returned by backup media manager)

Symptom

During SAP HANA recovery using Backint, the database does not come online although the backup was created successfully.

Observed behavior:

  • recovery does not progress
  • recovery remains at log position 0
  • indexserver does not start
  • nameserver terminates during recovery
  • database volumes cannot be mounted

Example error in BACKUP.log:

RECOVER DATA finished with error: [448] recovery could not be completed, volume 1,
reached log position 0,
[110044] The service 'nameserver' at '<host>:30001' responsible for the volume '1' does crash

BACKINT.log shows a restore request but no returned data:

backint started:
command: hdbbackint -f restore ...
#EBID ...
No return for pid
