2554502 - Dashboard Connection is Not Being Applied to All Report Views

Symptom

You have created a dashboard and defined correctly the sources and targets reports in the Connection step,

Your dashboard is based on the same report, same report view and different report selections, however, you are noticing that the filters are being applied to only one report view and is not being applied to the other selection, which is based on the same report view.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Analysis work center and Analysis view;
  2. Select the Dashboard XYZ;
  3. Click on Execute Mode button;
  4. Click on the field value XYZ;
  5. See that the filter is being only to the first one report view in the dashboard and is not being applied to the other one, which is the same report view.

Cause

Connection between equal report views is not supported in the current release of SAP Cloud for Customer. If you edit the dashboard and go to the Step 5 – Connections, you will be able to see that you are not allowed to repeat the same dashboard connection, hence the created connection will be applied to the first report view present in the dashboard, and the other same report views will be ignored.  It happens due to the system logic, once the system finds the report view and the filter is applied, the condition has been attended and the loop gets finished.

Resolution

In order to fix it, you need to create a new view with a different name/ID in your report. Once you have it, you will be able to define a consistent connection. You can create this new view with the same fields as the old one, but the different name is needed.
