2556277 - AmbiguousIdentifierException in Storefront

Symptom

  • When a user attempts to navigate through products or categories on the storefront, they encounter the bellow exception:
    • SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet [DispatcherServlet] in context with path [] threw exception [Request processing failed; nested exception is de.hybris.platform.servicelayer.exceptions.AmbiguousIdentifierException: Product code 'xxxx' is not unique, X products found!] with root cause de.hybris.platform.servicelayer.exceptions.AmbiguousIdentifierException: Product code 'xxxx' is not unique, X products found!
  • When users search for a specific product, rather than the expected results, they receive a blank page. Investigation into server logs for the product code indicates a 500 internal server response error. Dynatrace analysis shows the following exception: 
    • Exception: org.springframework.web.util.NestedServletException
      Message: Request processing failed; nested exception is de.hybris.platform.servicelayer.exceptions.AmbiguousIdentifierException: Product code '<masked>' is not unique, X products found!

      Exception: de.hybris.platform.servicelayer.exceptions.AmbiguousIdentifierException
      Message: Product code '<masked>' is not unique, X products found!
