2556921 - "Send Order Confirmation to Account' is Disabled When Creating a New Sales Order

Symptom

When creating a new sales order, you want to submit the order and send the order confirmation, but the option Send Order Confirmation to Account is grayed out.

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Sales Orders work center
  2. Go to Sales Orders view.
  3. Click New to open the creation window, fill the necessary data.
  4. Click Submit button, you want to click Send Order Confirmation to Account button, but it is grayed out. You have to firstly click Release button. After the order is released, the Send Order Confirmation to Account option is enabled.

Cause

It is because the approval process of sales order is scoped.

Once the approval process of sales order is in scope, system will first check the approval which is triggered by submit-release action. That's the reason why the option Send Order Confirmation to Account is only enabled after the order gets released.

If you de-scope the approval process, then the option Release and Send Order Confirmation to Account will be both enabled when creating new orders.

When a Sales Order is approved the Sales Order will be released automatically. If the Approval Process is in scope, not possible to choose the Send Order Confirmation to Account option when clicking the Submit button to releasing the Sales Order.

Therefore the check box Send Order Confirmation in the General tab of the Sales Order was introduced.

If the Approval Process is in scope and the check box Send Order Confirmation  is ticked, the Order Confirmation is sent to the Account automatically when the approval status changes to approved or approval not necessary.

If the Approval Process in not in scope you can release and send the Order Confirmation  directly via the Submit button and the Send Order Confirmation to Account option.

Please Note: The check box Send Order Confirmation in the General tab of the Sales Order is only available if the Sales Order Approval Process is in scope.

Resolution

This is correct system behavior.

If you would like to send the Order Confirmation to the Account once the approval status changes to approved or approval not necessary you can activate the check box Send Order Confirmation in the Sales Order as follows:

  1. Go to Sales Orders work center
  2. Go to Sales Orders view.
  3. Click New to open the creation window, fill the necessary data.
  4. Navigate to the General tab.
  5. Tick the check box for the field Send Order Confirmation.
  6. Click on the Submit and select the Release button.
