Symptom

  • Error 11056 returned to an ASE client when executing a query
    • The number of pages is system configuration dependent
    • Values in examples are just for illustration and not recommended values

Msg 11056, Level 17, State 1:
Server 'ASE', Procedure 'sp_xxxxx', Line 212:
Exceeded tempdb space limit of 8000 pages.

  • A Java client shows messages including error code [11056]

SQLException for SQL []; SQL state [ZZZZZ]; error code [11056]; Exceeded tempdb space limit of 3000 pages.
nested exception is com.sybase.jdbc4.jdbc.SybSQLException: Exceeded tempdb space limit of 3000 pages.
cause: com.sybase.jdbc4.jdbc.SybSQLException: Exceeded tempdb space limit of 3000 pages.
