Symptom

Concurrent Employment functionality in Employee Central (EC) and how does it relate to the Learning environment.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Resolution

  • Concurrent Employment: An employee who has more than one job at the company (and this results in 1x UserID per employment).
  • Global Assignment: The employee has been sent on a Global Assignment to another part of the company somewhere in the world for a limited period of time (sort or even long term). For example, an employee works in Ireland but is sent on an assignment to France for 1 year to help start a new satellite office. This will cause the employee to have more than 1 UserID too.
  • Learning supports EC concurrent employment and Global Assignment the same way the rest of the suite does: via distinct records for each employment.
  • Each employment record that gets synced from EC/Platform creates a student record in the Learning.
  • The user accesses each employment via an employment switcher and performs employment-specific actions across the suite.
  • In b1902, Platform was enhanced to give the ability to exclude EC contingent workers from the employee export job and therefore not fed into Learning. See here.
