Symptom
You are uploading Employees using the Data Workbench functionality, but the Employees are not getting an ID from the Internal Number Range assigned to them.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to the Data Workbench work center and access the view Import.
- Select the object Employees and click Next.
- Upload your file, make sure that all data is correct and click Next.
- Finish the import.
- When you go to check the employees, the IDs assigned are the ones entered in the .csv file imported, rather than using the Internal Number Range.
Cause
This is the current standard behavior of the system.
Resolution
Currently the Employee & User Data service supports only external numbers for Employee IDs, because this ID is also used to generate the user ID, which is also part of the same service.
The assignment of internal number range to employees during data import using Data Workbench is being evaluated for a future release.
