2559072 - Rule to Auto Populate End Date and Requesting Field in Employee Time is not Working

Symptom

Customer needs a rule that will auto populate the "End Date"  and "Requesting" fields to the same quantity, depending on the time type selected.

For example, if you select Marriage Leave as the time type, add 12 days to the end date based on the start date entered, and set Requesting field to 12 days.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  • Customer has configured an onChange rule on the start date field on the employee time object, but this only changed the end date field and not the requesting field.
  • They added another onchange rule to the deductionquantity / Requesting field on employee time object, but still this only updated end date.

Resolution

You can use onChange rules to autopopulate values, e.g. calculating the end date field.

However the "Requesting" field is an internal field which is always calculated.

You cannot manipulate this field using onChange rules.

Also, you should not attach rules to system fields like deductionQuantity oder quantityInHours/quantity in days to manipulate these values as this could lead to inconsistent data.
